AHEPA 127-II, Apartments for the Elderly Located on a 3.03-acre site in Mount Healthy, Ohio off of Compton Road on Affinity Place. This 2-story, 50-unit apartment facility is the second Housing for the Elderly project that Suhar & Associates Architects designed for AHEPA [the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association] and their local chapter AHEPA #127. The project is a Federal funded HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) Section 202 Housing for the Elderly development. What this means is that AHEPA, as the Sponsor for the project, is the Owner and provides development and standards as well as ongoing management and maintenance for the facility. The Federal Government, through HUD, provides the construction funding for the project. This is a 40-year commitment by both the Sponsor and HUD. The facility is almost 21,000 SF per floor and constructed out of wood frame construction with brick and split faced stone veneer. For resident amenity and to foster community, the facility is provided with a Library, Community Room with kitchen, Exercise Room, Arts and Crafts Room, Computer Room, Laundry Room, trash chute, seating areas, exterior deck and covered balcony. Each apartment maximizes the Federal standard of 540 SF size and contains (1) bedroom; full kitchen with pantry, stove and cooktop, refrigerator, and sink with garbage disposal; living room space; bathroom; and walk-in storage closet. To assist with safety and security, the facility is equipped with secured entrances, security cameras, an apartment intercom communication and door release system; a nurse call alert system with three (3) pull stations per apartment, alert lighting system, and automatic apartment entrance door release; as well as a hospital-grade elevator. Several apartments are designed as handicap accessible and all units are handicap adaptable (provisions are either already in-place or designed to be modified for handicap accessible living). SAA partnered with AHEPA 127, Inc., AHEPA National Housing, CONSOC Housing Consultants, and CPM Construction on this project. It was completed in 2005.
