COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

SRA ARCHITECTS utilizes the latest in computer aided design and drafting technologies. Our expertise gives our Clients many options in which we produce many types of drawings from realistic concept renderings to fully detailed architectural documents, quickly and cost effectively. We accomplish this by using modern computers, software, and strategies.

HARDWARE - We use today's powerful computer hardware. Each member of the firm is equipped with at least a 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 workstation and a 19-inch flat digital LCD monitor with high-end 3-D graphics card. These tools allow us to meet heavy production demands and greatly reduce production time. With the addition of a portable notebook computer loaded with AutoCAD, we can literally bring our design studio to you. Field measurements and proposed designs can be evaluated and modified on the laptop computer to suit our Clients' needs right at their doorstep. This approach gives our Clients the unequaled ability to participate and interact in the design of their new facilities. We are equipped with CD and DVD burners to archive past projects or distribute information to Clients or Consultants.

PRODUCTION SOFTWARE - Each workstation runs current versions of AutoCAD, the industry standard for Computer Aided Drafting and Design. This program lets us create working drawings for projects of any scope or size. AutoCAD's industry standard files allow us to share our computer files with other disciplines and consultants to further reduce production time. For the benefit of our Clients, all drafting work is produced exclusively with electronic media without manual drafting.

3-D VISUALIZATION - We utilize the latest computer presentation techniques. With the use of 3D Studio, a premier 3D rendering/modeling package, we can produce compelling perspectives, life-like animation and realistic walk-throughs of the proposed designs. We can also superimpose a computer image of a new building on top of an existing site photograph to fully evaluate the visual impact of a proposed design.

PRESENTATION - In combination with local reprographic companies and our own in-house printing abilities, we make use of AutoCAD, 3-D Studio, Photoshop and other sophisticated computer design/graphic tools to produce compelling color presentations to display our designs for local building and zoning officials, financial lending institutions, developers, prospective users, and your own company. We can also be hired to use these same techniques to produce presentations based on the designs of others as a separate non-architectural, non-design service.

NETWORKING - All of our workstations are networked to allow our architects and designers to work as a team to produce drawings and complete portions of the same set of drawings simultaneously. The network is also equipped with a portable hard-drive system to provide backups of all project data for enhanced safety. The hard-drive is removed off-site daily and secured in a safe location to assure complete data integrity.

HIGH SPEED INTERNET - All of our firm's members have access to high speed internet to facilitate easy communication with Clients, Consultants, and Contractors via email; access to the most current design and construction information; and file transfer to Clients, Consultants, and Contractors via email, FTP, or other means. HARD COPY - We produce our drawings by sending them directly our local reprographics companies for high-speed black and white or color printing and reproduction services. Using this method, we can produce black and white design or construction documents as well as color site plans, floor plans, elevations, 3-D renderings, and presentations. In-house, a networked HP laser printer and networked Sharp copier-printer-scanner provides quick access to inexpensive check set printing, up to 11"x17" (half scale) size, to insure a high quality product. Additionally, with this equipment, we can create fax sheets of our work for efficient client interaction and review. We also have an in-house Epson wide-format (11"x17" capable) color printer to produce smaller scale color projects. Additionally, our networked Sharp copier-printer-scanner allows us to reproduce our documents in excellent quality in hard copy printed or copied formats or digital (scanned) TIFF or PDF formats.

STAFFING - The staff of SRA ARCHITECTS is its most important production asset. Each individual is fully trained and experienced in all aspects of computer-aided production, as well as having experience in Design, Architecture, Construction Detailing, and Presentation. We continue to educate ourselves by attending training seminars, reading technical journals, and interaction with other professionals to discuss techniques and methods of production and construction.
